The Business Challenge

Located in the heart of Studio City, California, the owners of the small business Berry Elegance, had discovered an incredible niche — catering to celebrities with chocolate-dipped strawberries. The gorgeous treats were a perfect fit for the film business, where “thank you” gifts to vendors and “welcome” gifts to actors and producers were in constant demand.

But faced with a mounting debt of $250K, the small business seemed doomed for failure. There was no time or money to create a marketing buzz to bring in new customers. In fact, although they were both single parents, the two managing partners were already working night and day at the store. Their dream of success was quickly becoming a nightmare.

The Custom Solution from Dell and Intel

Dell and Intel helped Berry Elegance revitalize their gourmet boutique. With a new point-of-sale (POS) system, the retailer could now serve customers quickly and easily — and manage inventory effectively. In addition, a high-performance Dell server — featuring Intel^® Core™2 Quad Technology — gave them a way to protect their data in the event of disaster.

Expanding the business also became possible. Two digital displays, powered by Dell™ OptiPlex™ desktops, began showcasing their full line of berries. A Dell multifunction printer enabled affordable printing of custom marketing materials. Plus, with Dell™ Latitude™ laptops and Intel^® Centrino^® Mobile Technology, the owners were free to work from home, be with their families and pursue their passions — all at the same time.
