The Business Challenge
For more than 20 years, Outback Catering had specialized in creating unforgettable outdoor events for its Hollywood clients, ranging from elegant weddings to company picnics to festive family barbecues. But recently, the small company’s profits had dramatically declined. Revenue was down by 20%, and it seemed as if the owner’s dreams were about to go up in smoke.
Typically, the caterer had depended on word of mouth for acquiring clients. However, it was missing out on many lucrative opportunities to expand sales with an in-house sampling area, outbound marketing activities, and a professional atmosphere for generating excitement. The time was right to make big changes, before the entire business went kaput.
The Custom Solution from Dell and Intel
Dell and Intel helped Outback Catering focus its outstanding presentation skills within its own office — and unveil them with a grand reopening. New Dell™ systems empowered employees to easily share event details and coordinate activities. A Dell multifunction printer also enabled them to create marketing materials with a customized flair.
Themed menus, from Hawaiian luaus to Mexican fiestas, were now promoted to customers on a digital display, powered by a Dell OptiPlex™ desktop. Small sampling events could be hosted in-house, while staff made outside sales calls with the help of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone systems and Dell Latitude™ laptops with Intel® Centrino® Mobile Technology and Verizon Wireless BroadbandAccess Built-In. With just a few changes, the caterer now brings delicious tastes to a whole new generation.
